Rock Report review
I can't believe that it's almost three years ago that the first Sunstorm album was released. It contained songs that Joe Lynn Turner had written for a follow-up to his critically acclaimed "Rescue You" album and reached the 3rd place in our album poll of 2006. As there were yet more unreleased songs lying on that forgotten shelf, it was only a matter of time before they would also be released. That's what happens now with the release of the second Sunstorm album, called "House Of Dreams". Contrary to its predecessor, it doesn't comprise unreleased songs only, but also tunes written by Jim Peterik and the brothers Tom & James Martin (House Of Lords, Khymera) especially for this occasion. The end result is probably not as surprising as the debut album anymore, but still an impressive release in its own right, featuring an excellent Joe Lynn Turner (as always) and a bunch of talented musicians (see the list). Highlights? All of them, but for now my preference goes out to opener "Divided" (Tom Martin, James Martin, Mikey Wilson), "I Found Love" (Joe Lynn Turner, Patrick Cowden Hyde), "Gutters Of Gold" (Jim Peterik) and "Tears On The Pages" (Jon Lind, Jim Peterik, Russ Ballard). Also worth mentioning is the final track: JLT's version of "Walk On", a song that he co-wrote with Desmond Child for Jimmy Barnes' classic "Freight Train Heart" album. I know that only one third of the year has passed, but I'm already sure we"ll see this second Sunstorm album back as one of 2009's top albums. You can't do without a copy of this excellent album!
