Rock Report review
Westworld is one of my favourite bands and to be honest, it hurted me to wait that long until a promo copy of this third studio album (which was originally meant to be titled "Act 3") was sent to me. Having listened to a lot of mp3-files on the Internet, I was really warmed up for this "Cyberdreams" and to come straight to the point, it's one of the best releases Z Records has unleashed upon us in the last year or so.
Recorded and mixed at The Pain Cave, NYC (by band member Bruno Ravel), "Cyberdreams" consists of ten songs, that will hit you right in the face. Once again co-written by Tony Harnell (TNT) and Mark Reale (Riot), all of them are real gems that only prove that this band is more and more becoming a force to be reckoned with.
The (new) title of the album was probably inspired by the opening song, "Cyberdreamer". In its intro we get to hear newcomer John Pincus on keyboards. All the ingredients of a great Westworld song are here already: great melody lines, (harmony) vocals and impressive musicianship throughout. Further songs that made a deep impression on me include "A Million Miles" (hear those swirling keyboards!), "What If?" (with an incredible Tony Harnell on lead vocals), "Look To See" and the Black Sabbath cover "Neon Knights" (heavy as hell).
Z Records may be very proud to have this band on board. As a matter of fact it's strange to see them on this independent label, as they deserve to be signed by a major! Buy, at all cost!
