Rock Report reissue review
PRICE, LISA - Priceless - YesterRock, 2013
Far more interesting than the reissue of Nick Gilder's self-titled album, is this here nice little ditty "Priceless", the one-off 6-track EP from Canadian singer-songwriter Lisa Price. This jewel was originally released by Mirus in 1983 and has never been released on CD before now. It's not only special because of the high quality of the material on offer, but also because of the performances of all musicians involved, invited from acts like Dalbello, Honeymoon Suite, Surrender, Wrabit and Zappacosta. "Priceless" was produced by Paul Gross (known from his work with Rush, Saga & Triumph) and contains nothing else than impressive songs that were all tailor-made for Lisa's strong voice. No wonder she was compared (at the time) to other attractive female vocalists like Lee Aaron, Pat Benatar and Patty Smyth (of Scandal). This mini-album was already a classic AOR platter in my book, so I'm more than happy to finally have a copy on CD. A nice surprise from the people behind YesterRock and hopefully they can continue with more surprises in the future.
