Rock Report review
Less than a year after the release of their eponymous debut album, the Australians of White Widdow are back with their sophomore album, called "Serenade". I liked their debut album a lot and so did many of our members, as it ended up as 18th best album in our poll of 2010. To cut a long story short: the new album is more of the same with 10 brand-new tracks, that ooze quality from start to finish. Jules Millis and co. prove that pure AOR is still pretty much alive in the year 2011. The songs are all of great quality and performed with an enthusiasm, not heard from many metal bands lately. With a great balance between guitars (Enzo Almanzi) and keyboards (Xavier Millis), this is how AOR should sound! Count to that the excellent harmony vocals and there's no escaping: this is a "Serenade" for all lovers of the AOR genre. The album is a sure contender for the album top 10 at the end of the year, rest assured of that! And let's not forget: it's another excellent release from Georg Siegl's AOR Heaven label, which is definitely back on track with an impressive list of releases this year.
